John Malkovich is an American stage and film actor, as well as a director and producer and fashion designer. He has ppeared in more than 70 movies throughout his career. John Malkovich is the proud owner of all 25 wins and 26 nominations.
In Illinois State University he graduated with a major in theater. Malkovich's career stretches back nearly three decades and has included everything from the acclaimed period drama Dangerous Liaisons (1988) to action thrillers In the Line of Fire (1993), Con Air (1997) and the RED franchise to the self-referential dramedy of Spike Jonze's Being John Malkovich in 1999.
In 1976, Malkovich joined Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater. In 1980, he won an Obie award for his performance a version of Sam Shepard's True West. This was soon followed by his Broadway debut, in Death of a Salesman. In 1982, he appeared in A Streetcar Named Desire with Chicago's Wisdom Bridge Theater. Then he directed a Steppenwolf co-production, the 1984 revival of Landford Wilson's Balm in Gilead, for which he received a second Obie Aword and a Drama Desk Award. That year for his performance in Places in the Heart, he received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In 1984 he won National Board of Review, USA and Kansas City Film Critics Circle Awards for Best Supporting Actor with Places in the Heart Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards. Malkovich won an Emmy award for his Broadway debut role in 1985. Malkovich became a star when he portrayed Valmont in the 1988 film Dangerous Liaisons. The latter film featured Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer and Malkovich reprised his role in the film for the music video to Annie Lennox's Walking on Broken Glass. In 1994, Malkovich was nominated for his next Academy Award, for his role in In the Line of Fire.
John Malkovich continued to pursue more unusual roles and films, including The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Beowulf and Burn After Reading, a Coen Brothers comedy. Because of his aptitude for comedy, John Malkovich has hosted three episodes of Saturday Night Live, n 1993, was with Billy Joel as his musical guest. In 2008 he presented the show, it featured appearances from Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Molly Sims and Justin Timberlake.
In 2008, Malkovich partrayed the story of Jack Underweger in a performance for one actor, two sopranos, and period orchestra entitled Seduction and Despair, which premiered at Barnum Hall in Santa Monica. In 2011 Malkovich directed Julian Sands in A Celebration of Harold Pinter in the Pleasance Courtyard, Edimburgh for the Edimburgh Festival Fringe. In 2012, he directed a production of a newly adapted French-language version of Les Liaisons Dangereuses for the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Paris.
Known for their achievements and valuable prizes as an actor, producer, director and writer continues to win prestigious awards worldwide.
Some of them in recent years are: News & Documentary Emmy Award in 2010, Moscow International Film Festival in 2011 he won special prize for an outstanding contribution to the world cinema. In 2013 won independent spirit award John Malkovich Received Award Zurich Film Festival Lifetime Honor in Switzerland for his lifetime achievement, life's work. The two-time Oscar nominee with the Golden Eye Award.
Malkovich is considered to be one of the most distinguished actors of complex abysmal yet highly intelligent characters.
He has embodied a large spectrum of figures ranging from characters in a wide range of different-characterized characters.
