Since the formation of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, its ensembles have been playing an important role in the activity of the collective participating in the numerous multi-genre projects.
The orchestra pays special attention to the Armenian composing school, thus the pieces by the renowned Armenian composer Alexander Aroutiunian have always been included in its repertoire during both Armenian and foreign concerts.
In 2014 the musicians of the Youth Orchestra and its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan initiated the foundation of the new ensemble, the Aroutiunian Woodwind-Piano Quartet, which bears the name of the above mentioned Armenian composer. Aroutiunian's contribution to the performing art of the wind instruments in Armenia can't be overestimated: he has composed a great number of concertos for horn, trumpet, tuba and other wind instruments. Several of the latters have been arranged specially to serve the needs of the newly established ensemble.
The wide repertoire of the ensemble ranges from the pieces by Western European classical composers to the contemporary ones.
The ensemble performed in China, Russia and Europe countries
