Born in Ukraine in 1984, Alexander studied with Leonid Margarius at the Imola Piano Academy and with Dmitry Alexeev at the Royal College of Music in London. He has recently appeared as soloist with the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev in the Mariinsky Concert Hall in St. Petersburg, the Chicago Symphony and James Conlon in Ravinia and the New York Philharmonic and Alan Gilbert in Vail, as well as with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Barbican in London, the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano and the NHK Symphony Orchestra and Gianandrea Noseda.
At the age of seventeen, he won 1st Prize in the renowned Busoni Competition in Italy and since 2007 has released four critically acclaimed CDs on the Decca label of music by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms and Rachmaninov.
Among future engagements are recitals at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid and Casa da Música in Porto and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, as well as concerts with the City of Birmingham SO, Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2014, A.Romanovsky is the artistic director of the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition.
